Nia Evans || FC: Nia Frazier || Age: 11 || Born: July 25

Mercedes had always been told she was the wrong shape to be a dancer and as much as she embraced her inner diva she hated the fact that she wasn’t allowed to be the graceful ballerina that all the other girls were. As soon as Nia could stand she was put into a ballet class at the local community centre, nothing special mainly just running about in circles. Soon she got old enough to take jazz and tap, the only classes that they offered but Mercedes wanted more. She didn’t want to be the pushy dance moms though so she left Nia at the recreational classes where she seemed to be having fun.

However Nia ended up in the same kindergarten as Paige and the two go onto the subject of dance. Nia listened in awe as Paige talked about acro, contemporary, lyrical and the prospect of competitions. It only took one conversation for Mercedes to be convinced and Nia was enrolled in ALDC a couple of days later. She loved all the new classes and took a particular liking to acro which quickly became her speciality though she also liked jazz. Nia never missed a class and was always the first to try something new or volunteer to help out, a very loyal student.

Nia has never been Abby’s favourite but she believes that perseverance is the key and she works hard whether she is giving a solo or a place in the back of the group dance. She tries not to complain but sometimes she gets upset due to her permanent place on the bottom of the pyramid and the lack of enthusiasm from Abby. Abby’s main problem with Nia is that she is a slow learner, she struggles to pick up choreography as fast as the other girls and it takes her a while to make a correction, Abby’s biggest pet peeve. She is a very passionate little girl though and will always try her hardest, she is also incredibly supportive of her friends, always being the first to congratulate them.

Cassidy Flanagan || FC: Jordyn Jones || Age: 12 || Born: September 3

Being the second Flanagan meant that Cassidy wasn’t give the responsibility of fulfilling her mom’s broken dream. Ana already had Dena’h to do that so Cassie was given a free pass. She was allowed to do any activities she wanted which included theatre and skateboarding. Of course Ana didn’t approve of the latter but she also didn’t really care, all her attention was being fed into Dena’h. Cassie drew close to her father but also just enjoyed being on her own or with her friends from school, to her family wasn’t the most important thing in the world, she learnt that from her mother.

At least once a month Ana would take the girls to see a show whether it be a musical, an opera or a ballet. When Cassie was six they went to see a battle between the Royal Ballet and a famous hip hop troop; whilst her mother and sister focused on the ballerinas Cassie eyes were firmly on the tricks being performed by the street dancers, that was what she wanted to do. She begged her mom to let her take dance and Ana finally agreed to take her to a local studio, she didn’t think it was worth the money to take Cassie to ALDC because she didn’t think the girl had it in her to succeed.

She set about proving her mother wrong and enrolled herself in ballet and lyrical classes even though she found them boring, she needed to show she was good enough. When she was eleven Cassie presented her case to her mother and Ana agreed to let her try out for Abby to see if it was worth moving her, Abby was impressed and Cassie was moved to ALDC. Cassie has only just began to compete and she knows that she has to prove herself at every competition and she needs to be more than just a hip hop dancer, she needs to be versatile though Cassie is a lot more at home in a pair of sweatpants than pointe shoes.

Kurt Hummel-Anderson || FC: Chris Colfer || Age: 36 || Born: May 27

Kurt Hummel-Anderson had a rough time growing up. Unlike most boys his age, Kurt preferred throwing tea parties instead of footballs. He was constantly ridiculed and picked on during high school, and one boy bullied him to the point of transferring to Dalton Academy, an all-boys school. There, Kurt met Blaine Anderson, who helped him find the courage and confidence to confront his school bullies, and ultimately ended up transferring back to McKinley, happy when Blaine followed suit. Kurt held a steady relationship with Blaine throughout most of his junior and senior year of high school. However, when he graduated and moved to New York, his relationship with the boy went sour, and they painfully ended it.

But when Blaine followed Kurt to New York the second his graduated, Kurt realized how much Blaine meant to him, and quickly regained their relationship. The two married just after their first Christmas in New York together, and after discussing children, adopted a little girl by the name of Kendall. She was Kurt’s pride and joy, dressing her in the cutest and most fashionable outfits he could find. However, they realized that raising a child in New York was not ideal for their family, and packed up, moving back to Lima, Ohio. Several years later, once Kendall had turned 9, the Hummel-Andersons officially adopted a second child, Allison. Kurt’s perfect family had been completed.

Kurt enrolled both of his daughters into the ALDC after Kendall begged him to put her into the same studio as her cousins. However, when Kurt saw that Abby wasn’t treating Kendall with the respect she deserved, Kurt pulled her out and enrolled her in the CADC, Abby’s rival studio. But when he saw how much Kendall hated it, he pulled her out of the studio, bringing her back to the ALDC. Kurt’s noticed a difference in Kendall since she’d returned, and he was prouder than proud when she went almost an entire season undefeated. Now that Allie’s on the competition team, as well, Kurt tries to argue less with Abby, not wanting both of his children to suffer.

Rory Flanagan || FC: Damian McGinty || Age: 35 || Born: September 9

Rory Flanagan never expected to love the United States of America as much as he did. What started out as an exchange student program became a semi-permanent residency. However, his visa wasn’t renewed and he had to pack up his new life and head back to Ireland. Once back in Ireland, his parents took note of his obvious depression of being away from the new life he’d established in the USA, so they helped him file for citizenship, sending him back as soon as it was approved. Rory has always been grateful for the sacrifice his parents made, making sure to visit them as often as he can.

When Rory came back to the USA, he saw how happy Sugar, his short-term girlfriend, seemed to be with Artie Abrams and decided that he wouldn’t tamper with their relationship. Instead, he focused on his college studies, leaving little time to socialize with American women. He fell in love with Ana by accident, having always been paired up with her for their class projects. He finally mustered up the courage to ask her out, and when she said yes, he knew she was the one for her. Upon graduating, Rory immediately proposed, marrying the love of his live six months later.

Rory is a proud father to three beautiful daughters that look like the spitting image of their mother, despite them inheriting her recessive blonde gene. He was dead set against Ana putting them into dance classes, since he’d heard from Noah and the other guys he went to school with that Abby was a very tough teacher. But Ana was persistent in wanting to give their daughters the life she had and lost. Rory avoids the studio at all costs, but continues to sign his paychecks away to the ALDC.

Brody Weston || FC: Dean Geyer || Age: 38 || Born: April 26

Brody Weston lived a wealthy life. He grew up in New York to rich parents who bought him everything. Thus, with the gifts came a cocky ‘I’m Better Than You’ attitude. However, said attitude didn’t last long through high school, and Brody eventually humbled up, his cockiness turning into determination. Brody never was good at sports, so he decided, in his senior year, to try singing. And he loved it. And his teachers urged him to audition at NYADA, and was shocked beyond belief to find out that he had been accepted. His career was headed to Broadway.

In his junior year, Brody met Rachel Berry, and came with her was her group of friends, including Quinn and Charlie Fabray, Jesse St. James, and Harmony Pearce. The six of them became quite the tight-knit group, and Brody decided he would try to pursue winning Rachel’s heart. However, life threw him for a loop when Rachel’s long-time boyfriend came back and the two rekindled his romance. And instead of acting opposite her in his first major role, he was singing lead with Charlie Fabray in an off-Broadway rendition of RENT. He realized after months of grueling rehearsals and productions that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. However two years ago they realised it wasn’t working and decided to mutually end the relationship.

Brody sure wasn’t sure how he ended up leaving his lavish life in New York behind and moving to Lima, Ohio. But he did it, and he is still undecided about getting a regular job. Instead, he volunteers at the schools in Lima, teaching basic theatre and music principles to children of all ages. Though, most of his time is spent in the ALDC mezzanine with Jesse, discussing how their daughters will make it to Broadway like they did, and ignoring the idle chatter and pointless drama that the mothers tend to spend their time on. Brody sees a lot of himself in Brynn, and knows that if she takes enough voice and acting lessons, she’ll make it to Broadway, just like him.

Noah Puckerman || FC: Mark Salling || Age: 36 || Born: August 17

Noah Puckerman had prided himself on seeing how many girls he could hook up with, and it came easily to him with his natural good looks and effortless charm. It wasn’t long before he had charmed Quinn into sleeping with him, resulting in a teenage pregnancy. Noah had wanted to step up and be a parent, but when Quinn had decided to give their child up for adoption, Noah decided to make it his life’s goal to show Quinn that he would be a good father to her children, and that he was more than just a Lima Loser.

After graduation, Noah went off to LA to pursue a pool-cleaning business, but when he realized that it wasn’t the same as it was back in high school, he abandoned the entire idea, and shipped himself off to New York to join all of his old friends. He spent nearly 3 years trying to win Quinn over once again, and once he had, he was going to make sure she knew that he would be the perfect father and husband. When Quinn fell pregnant with his second child, he knew that he’d be able to provide for them better back in Lima. He convinced Quinn to move back and relocated his little family back to Ohio.

Noah never saw himself being that involved dance dad like Kurt or Mike, but when he saw his youngest daughters dancing with his oldest daughter, he was determined to spend time at the studio, wanting to get to know Beth, and why she went by Gianna at the studio. Noah wants to get to know Beth, and be able to explain why she was given up for adoption, as well as watch his daughters grow into incredible performers

Brandon Abrams || FC: Brandon Pent || Age: 17 || Born: July 16

As soon as he could walk Brandon was thrust into dance and when he learnt to talk acting and singing classes were the next on the list. Sugar wanted fame and fortune for her little boy and she wasn’t going to let him become a cast-off like she had. He didn’t take to dance straight away, he’d stumble through the classes and his teachers wanted to give up but the money kept flowing in from Sugar so they persevered. Slowly but surely Brandon started to pick it up, though he hated the stigma that came with being a male dancer when he’d much rather be off kicking a soccer ball with his friends.

Growing up Brandon had two options, hate his mother for pushing him into dance or accept that it was the right decision, Brandon went for a bit of both. Between the ages of nine and thirteen Brandon hated Sugar, he felt like an outcast and blamed her for it. It was when he was thirteen that Brandon realised the perks of being a male dancer. He was picked for numerous group dances, duets and trios even though he was far below his partner in skill level purely because was a boy. Once the stigma of being a male dancer wore off Brandon also became pretty popular at school, even getting nominated for homecoming king.

Brandon used to be Brooke Puckerman’s duet partner until awkwardness formed and now due to height and onstage chemistry Brandon is more often paired with Payton though he misses dancing with the petite brunette Puckerman. He hasn’t been on the main competition team for a while because of school commitments but now he’s ready to get back into it and he’s hoping Abby will allow him on the same team as Brooke, their duets always used to come first place. He understands that almost all of the teen and senior boys want to dance with Brooke but he’s hoping his history with her will for once help his case.

Being the daughter of Mike Chang Kiana was destined to be a dancer. She wasn’t pushed into it like a lot of the other girls though because Mike wanted her to love it for herself not for him. She started at a small recreational dance school when she was four in the typical ballet and jazz classes but she progressed quicker than the rest of the class. She was six when her dad moved her to ALDC and at the same time enrolled Melia. She settled into the Abby Lee Dance Company effortlessly even though she had far less years of training. With the help of specialised coaches Kiana soon caught up.

Lyrical and contemporary are Kiana’s two favourite styles and her long legs made leaps and extensions look beautiful. Kiana prefers to keep to herself at the studio and she is often seen sitting in the corner stretching or just reading a book. She’s a very kind girl though and the younger ones really like her. She is often asked for help both dance and school related because she will keep re-explaining until you understand. Due to her quiet determination Kiana is one of the strongest teen dancers in the company but also a straight A student with very good career prospects.

Even though she’s the older sibling Kiana often feels like she is in Melia’s shadow. She knows she is more of a natural dancer than her sister but she wishes she could be as charismatic and confident as Melia. She knows that almost every girl at ALDC is dreaming of stardom but she isn’t so sure that she’s cut out for it. She watches Gia and Rebecca teach and is pretty sure that that’s what she wants to do or maybe even open her own dance studio, she could be the Abby Miller of it, though of course she’d be a lot kinder. Kiana has worked with every teacher at ALDC but she finds Victor the easiest to learn from.

Melia Chang || FC: Melia Mariano || Age: 11 || Born: October 7

When Kiana was moved to ALDC Melia was four and was enrolled straight away, more for convenience than anything else. She started in the tiny tots but she didn’t take to it quite as quickly as Kiana and Mike thought about pulling her from dance on many occasions. She loved it though and begged her dad to let her go more often though she was aware she certainly wasn’t the best. She watched as her friends moved up to the team or more advanced classes but she remained in the tiny tots still progressing slowly. She was almost six when she finally graduated but she wasn’t put into competition instead she was just enrolled in different classes, recreational classes.

She wanted more though, she wanted to be like her sister and her friends so she kept persevering, trying every style she was allowed to and finally getting into some more advanced classes for her age group. She wanted to compete but she knew she had a way to go and flexibility and balance didn’t come easy to her. She persevered though and soon managed to catch her friends up, though she still wasn’t asked to compete due to her slow learning and lack of work within a group. She had always been close to Autumn Miller though and the two were sometimes picked for duets or trios with Sarah Corcoran-Rhodes but she was never part of a real group.

Now Melia’s confidence is on the up though sometimes she still doesn’t feel like quite part of the group because she’s only starting to be involved. Abby has begun asking her for more dances lately but and she started to become a regular on the team before the competition season was put on a break. She loves to dance but sometimes feels like she can’t ever be anything other than Mike’s daughter or Kiana’s sister. She’s working hard to make a name for herself but she knows she’s still behind a lot of the girls her own age and she constantly compares herself to the other dancers, especially when it comes to her weaker styles.
